Project Visit and Inspection by the German Embassy Philippines at the Foundation for These-Abled Persons Inc. (FTI)

Representatives from the German Embassy Philippines, Mr. Mathias Krus – Deputy Head of Mission, and Ms. Anna Ventura – Officer for Development Cooperation, conducted a project visit and inspection at the Foundation for These-Abled Persons Inc. (FTI). They were welcomed by Mr. Rommel Abuyen – Member of the Board of Trustees and Program Officer, and Ms. Eileen Discar – Administrative Officer.

The visit focused on the progress of the Php 750,000 grant provided by the German Embassy Philippines for the construction of the 3rd-floor ramp roofing, sanitation repairs, and the installation of a new water tank. The team also reviewed the solar system and panels funded under the grant, as well as other completed repairs.

During the meeting, FTI presented its ongoing programs, which include capacity building, organizing, and livelihood creation for persons with disabilities, as well as environmental initiatives such as organic gardening, reforestation, and mangrove restoration across Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon.

The German Embassy representatives expressed their satisfaction with the successful completion of the grant project. Discussions also touched on employment percentage laws for PWDs and FTI’s partnerships with past and present funding organizations, including CBM, ASB, Life Giving Forest (LGF), and its third-party partners such as Postcode, Rapunzel, and SEZ, as well as private individual donors from Germany supporting LGF.

The visit concluded with a photo documentation of the completed projects, including the 3rd-floor roofing, ramp repairs, new water tank, and sanitation improvements. The German Embassy team commended FTI for its impactful work and commitment to empowering persons with disabilities and promoting environmental sustainability.
